Business Description

The Seamen’s Bethel is the “Whalemen’s Chapel” of Melville’s Moby-Dick. Owned and managed by the New Bedford Port Society it has been serving the maritime community for 180 years and is one of the most historic buildings in New Bedford.

The Bethel is open to the Public seven days a week 10:00 to 4:00 from mid May to the end of October. Be advised that it may be temporarily closed at anytime for a service.
